Smart Cooking Tips

American restaurant critic Craig Claiborne once stated, “Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love.” These words from a critic like Craig Claiborne is just like a fresh droplet of dew on a flower petal.

Cooking is just not limited to feeding someone, a meal cooked has its own perseverance, importance, and moreover essence that is unbiased. Slow cooking is always the best demeanor for cooking food, but sometimes you just want food to get cooked faster so that your dinner takes less time.

People do opt for short-tricks to cook food swiftly but if not done properly, the taste will be lacking for sure. There are times when you want to luxuriate in the beauty of tenderizing meat, but sometimes there are your loved ones who can’t resist their hunger and want some quick meal to fuel up. Slow cooking can’t be an option then.

Therefore, I am here with some of the best approaches to cook swiftly and do not keep those stomachs grumbling.

Smart Cooking Tips That Save Time

Freeze Already Chopped Onions So That You Don’t Have The Need To Do The Chores Again

Onions are one of the basic ingredients in cooking. The cuisine might vary but onions are an integral part of almost every dish. Therefore, it is better to preserve already chopped onions by putting them in a sandwich bag, so that the next time you are making a dish your onions are already chopped which you just have to throw into the pan.

Sharpen Your Chopping Skills

You can freeze onions but not everything. A knife is one thing you have to use while preparing food. Therefore, it is imperative to sharpen your knife skills so that your meal could be prepared in less time.

To do so, first ensure your knife is sharp, then patiently start chopping at first and with no time you will be a pro. However, make sure you don’t cut your finger in order to sharpen your knife skills.

Put A Paper Towel Under Your Chopping Board So It Doesn’t Slide

Chopping is one thing a cook isn’t a fan of. And when the chopping board or the knife doesn’t work properly, it could be more annoying. Therefore, when you are chopping your veggies using the cutting board, it is better to put a paper towel or a paltry wet towel so that it doesn’t slide.

Cook In Bulk

This one is for all those lazy bees out there. Make double of what you are about to prepare. If you are cooking for one, cook for two, and don’t leave anything in your refrigerator unprepared. Just Kidding!

The motive is to prepare whatever you want to in bulk so that there is no need for the second meal of the day to be prepared. Cook once and eat again and again.

Don’t Use “Recipe Books”

It might sound eerie, but preparing a meal with eyes glued in the recipe book kills a lot of time. Although, this isn’t for the rookie chefs. When you have limited time at your disposal and have to prepare a meal that satisfies your craving, a recipe book isn’t a good idea.

Take the quickest way out in situations like these. Take some veggies, boil them, turn them into a filling, and put it between two bread slices, and it’s done. A simple time-saving meal that can fuel you with ease.

Divide And Conquer

If you are a non-veg lover, you can buy meat in bulk and divide it into two different meals and refrigerate them. On weekends, when you are free from the office, you can try two different meat cuisines and toast yourself with a delicious treat.

Reuse The Leftovers

Homemade meals are the best and there’s no one denying this fact. Even the leftovers of homemade meals are as delicious as they can be.

Therefore, just explore your refrigerator and take out the batch-cooked meals and enjoy them with pleasure. This is perhaps the best way out to end your craving without doing any errands.

Flex Your Pantry

A well-stocked pantry is desirable for people who are not much into cooking. Therefore, people like these have a stock full of cooked food. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have anything uncooked there in your fridge.

Convenient food items like lemons, frozen sausages and peas, macrons, long-lasting fresh vegetables and herbs like broccoli, flat-leaf parsley Dijon, cheddar, and sweet potatoes should always be present in there as they don’t consume much time in getting cooked.

Prepare All-in-One Meals

One cooking pot filled with different veggies or even meat. This will help you clean-up your leftover veggies and different food items at once.

In the same wheelhouse, do not underestimate the versatility of a foil pack. You can use it to fold up your dish and keep it in the refrigerator to use it afterward. This will be another meal in your pantry.

Conclusion:

There is no shame in taking smart shortcuts for cooking faster. At times, there is a dire need to cook faster especially when there are a bunch of guests visiting you. Therefore, try the aforementioned tricks to be a pro in swift cooking.
