MI Team Squad For IPL 2021– IPL 14th edition is all set to get underway from 9th April 2021 and the opening match of the season will see Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore locking horns with the defending and 5-time champions Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Today, we will be talking about the defending champions MI Team Squad and how they will fare in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.
The MI Team Squad
Led by India’s prolific opener and the most successful captain of IPL history, Rohit Sharma, The Mumbai Indians have done pretty well in retaining their core in the auction. They are yet again one of the most settled sides in the tournament and would be on the money right from the word ‘go’ in the quest to defend their title.
Going into the auctions with almost all their basis covered, the 5-time champions insisted on strengthening their bench strength and invested their purse without being skeptical. Below is the list of players they bought in the auction held in February earlier this year.
List of All New Player’s In MI Team Squad
- Adam Milne (New Zealand) – Rs 3.2 crore
- Nathan Coulter-Nile (Australia) – Rs 5 crore
- Piyush Chawla – Rs 2.4 crore
- James Neesham (New Zealand) – Rs 50 lakh
- Yudhvir Singh – Rs 20 lakh
- Marco Jensen (South Africa) – Rs 20 lakh
- Arjun Tendulkar – Rs 20 lakh
They roped in four overseas and three local talents, who will be settling into the Mumbai Indians squad for the 14th edition.
Players to watch out
Mumbai Indians have always been a settled side ever since the 2010 edition when they made their way into the finals for the first time. Names like Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, JaspritBumrah, and Rohit Sharma are genuine match-winners and capable of taking the game away from the opposition on any given day.
Talking about their auctions buy, it was a masterstroke to rope in the veteran leggy Piyush Chawla. He is the third-highest wicket-taker of all-time in IPL with 156 wickets in 164 games. His bulk experience would come in handy and will be forming a great pair with another leggy Rahul Chahar. In Nathan Coulter Nile and James Neesham, they have found a great blend of fast bowling and hard-hitting, which will aid them in the lower order. Meanwhile, Adam Milne will be a genuine backup or partner for Trent Boult. The only concern and headache for MI team squad management and think tank ahead of their opening fixture would be to field in the best possible eleven from a plethora of talented individuals. Nevertheless, with a squad like this, a playoff spot in IPL 2021 is definitely on the sights for Mumbai Indians.
