Entertainment Treasures That Made Our 2000s Memorable
Physicist David Deutsch once said, “I myself believe that there will one day be time travel because when we find that something isn’t forbidden by the over-arching laws of physics we usually eventually find a technological way of doing it.” There’s no surety about time travel as of now, however, we all do have some pleasant memories from our childhood which we remember and still cherish.
It was 2010 when technology started to flourish and soon became a dire need of people. However, before that especially in the early 2000s, a majority of the population was unaware and unheard of the internet or cell phones. At that time all this was way too common.
However, life wasn’t boring at that time too as we had a lot of things to do from playing outdoors with friends to sitting back home and enjoying some “quality” content on the idiot box.
Well, those days can never come back, but to give you a taste of nostalgia, I have come up with some of the coolest gadgets from the vault to refresh your lost memories.
The Coolness Of The iPod
Multimedia phones were still a dream to many courtesy of their affordability. However, around 2003, one of the coolest small gadget iPod came as a revelation in the market and soon replaced Sony Walkmans.
This generation will never get to understand the coolness of iPods which offered immersive music experience that cut down the need for bulky walkmans and heavy CD cases. With iPods, you were able to carry your music with you with a pinch of coolness.
The Bulky TV Sets
The current generation is inclined towards binge-watching on the OTT platform. They will never get to know the outrageous feeling of waiting for your favorite show on the weekends with friends, chilling with your buddies then wasn’t the same as today.
Once the weekend was done and dusted, the weekdays were filled with shows form moms in the afternoon and the possession of the remote was with the men of the house in the night. Life was stable yet pleasant then.
LiveJournal Avatars
One side of the 2000s internet was playing it cool, the other was, pouring your thoughts online. LiveJournal was part and parcel of daily lives back then. Before someone read your LiveJournal entry explaining every chore of the day in an elaborative manner, they could preview an entry with a little icon.
Band Cameos On TV
Can anyone forget The O.C, The Killers, Shakira or Lady Gaga with their enthralling vibes that led people to dance on their tunes? TV sets were blessed at that time when icon music titans used to perform cameos with their bands.
This is again a thing of the past that can’t be seen in this era. Yes, you can buy a ticket online and opt for a live concert, but the thrill those TV sets used to deliver was more than enough to groove the audiences.
Midnight Release Parties
Back then midnight wasn’t when the clock ticked 12. Maybe the 7 PM midnight premiere was borne of fandom’s desire to one-up with a new Star Wars, Harry Potter, or X-Men movie. Even the 7 PM midnights then were as thrilling as the midnights of now.
The excitement of being out of the bed for a midnight movie genuinely delighted one and all, to wear our little theme wristbands with the date or play games that offered winning elusive merchandise which was nowhere available online. The real fandom took place in these midnight releases before it exploded online.
Combine CDs
Floppy disk got its successor in the form of Compact Disks. Those bulky CD bags comprising contents of your taste were the best thing to be. Nowadays you don’t see music systems comprising CD slots, not even on your laptops or PCs. Those days have long lost but the music on CD players had its own flavor.
AIM Profile Lyrics
The AIM profile music lyrics was not much about your favorite band or music of the second. They have been unique subtweet and an approach to tempt the eye or intrigue of the individuals you allowed who can sneak peek at your profile.
DVD Chapters
The bigger version of CD’s, you won’t get DVD’s anymore in the market, but at one point of time DVD’s were eternal love for many. For all your recreational stuff especially on the weekends, DVDs were the lifelines.
From movies to video songs, everything was so smooth and agile with DVDs then and that experienced is still missed.
MySpace Tom
MySpace Tom was a compassionate and benign presence who was everyone’s MySpace friend. This was one such person who had to make this list at any cost. He was the one who never complained or propagated fake news as a reflationary measure. We may have grown apart like so many old friends but still remember him earnestly.
